Andy Citkowicz (pronounced: SI-KO-WITS) was born on Dec. 1st, 1951 in Jersey City, NJ, son of Felix Citkowicz, accordionist and recording artist. Felix recorded in 1959 the first and only Polka LP for Warner Brothers Studios in New York City. The album was called: “Stereo Goes to a Polka Party” (WB 1299), which can still be purchased on the Internet. In fact, Andy uses the title track as his theme song.

Andy began playing drums with his father’s band at age 14, and went on to minor in percussion at Jersey City State College (now known as Jersey City State University).
He graduated in 1974.

Andy played drums with bands such as Bernie Wytkowski and Ted Macksomowicz in all the hotels in New York City and surrounding areas for all the Polish Galas that took place. Afterwards, he joined the Flamingo Orchestra, which featured music from Poland. They played all through the New Jersey & New York metropolitan areas.

He began a career in teaching for the Passaic Public Schools in Passaic, NJ, and was a Computer Teacher/Technology Coordinator up until his recent retirement.

In February 1995, Andy made his debut on radio over WCNJ 89.3FM out of Hazlet, NJ. Later, his show moved on to WPDQ 89.7FM in Freehold, NJ. There, the “Sunday Polka Party” found a home for seven years until January of 2002 when the station was sold to a Christian Church. He emceed for Jimmy Sturr and many other places such as Atlantic City, Polkapallozza, and many other festivals throughout the area.

Today, Andy is busy playing drums locally with local musicians, and is also an active DJ performing for weddings, parties, and other special events.

Andy is happily married to his “Zos”: Sophia, and they are the proud parents of four sons.

Sophia was born in Newark, New Jersey on ?
