Paul Romanowski "Polkas From The South" ![]() Click here to e-mail Paul POLKAS FROM THE SOUTH with Paul Romanowski Airs Sunday mornings LIVE from 9:00am – 11:00am EST (8:00am – 10:00am CST) Monday nights LIVE from 8:00pm - 10:00pm EST (7:00pm - 9:00pm CST) Paul Romanowski was born in Detroit Michigan and began singing with polka bands at age 4. He developed a love for polka music and began playing drums. At age 11, his family moved to Houghton Lake, MI where his father, Gene Romanowski helped organize and maintain The Houghton Lake All American Polka Festival for several years. Paul attended Central Michigan University, studied Broadcasting and became a full time Radio Personality on WHGR/WUPS AM and FM in Houghton Lake, MI and on WSGW/WIOG AM And FM in Saginaw, MI. He was hosted a Sunday Morning Polka Show on WHGR which was on the air from 1984 until 1990. He began playing polkas full time when he joined Rick Vinecki's Melody Kings in 1985. He was the leader of The Michigan Connection which released the popular "Punctuation Polka" from 1993 until 1997. Paul was also a member of Darrell Weltin's New Brass Express from 2003 until recently when his job transferred him to Charlotte, NC. Paul and his wife Kelly now reside in Charlotte where Paul is an Operations Manager for Penske Logistics and Kelly teaches first grade. His son Matt is 14 and daughter Ashley is 11. Paul loves polka music and can't not be involved in some aspect of it. He now brings polkas to you on The Polka Jammer Network from his studio in "DA Sout".
