Jayne Debevec-Vadnal
Mary Jane Palmieri, daughter of the late John & Alma Palmieri of Johnstown, PA, has been involved in polkas her whole life. A graduate of Johnstown Central High School, she was listening to Polka Music at the age of 3 and taking lessons on the piano while in grade school. She met Johnny Debevec of Beaverdale, PA in 1957 when he needed a drummer. He told her knowing the music was most of the battle and started her on the drums. He always called her "Jayne" and it stuck with her. She moved to Cleveland in 1959 and continued to play drums. She was playing drums for Eddie Kenik's son’s graduation at Tino's Lounge on St. Clair with the Slogars when Bruce Burger approached her and told her she belonged on the air doing her own radio show. She became the first lady polka DJ to do Live-Feed-Back and listeners were on the air with their requests and dedications. Frankie Yankovic insisted she preserve her shows and occasionally she plays excerpts of long ago.
Jayne married Johnny Vadnal and he wanted to remain living in Ft. Lauderdale where he had retired four (4) years earlier. She was on the bandstand with him in Florida for close to 10 years. She ran polka events all through her years in Florida that continues to this day. She ran events and was on the bandstand for more than 20 years with Frankie Yankovic. The shirts she made with the artist personal accordion on them and the CD she produced "Polka Tribute To Johnny Debevec" awarded her a document signed by the Secretary of the State of Florida.
She took a short medical break from 247 Polka Heaven and returned in January 2012 with a new show "The Jayne & Kathy Show" that she does with her daughter Kathy Debevits. She will feature Kathy here on the Polka Jammer Network. Kathy does a great job with her presentation and her knowledge of Polka Music.
Jayne loves the Polish Music that her good friend and neighbor plays on his concertina. You will enjoy "Sunshine & Polkas" featuring polka music from the concertina corner. And Jayne can also take you back to the early years to the present with the best of Cleveland Style Polkas.
Jayne has always loved the Polka Jammer Network and is happy to be joined by Richie. Listen to Jayne & Richie right here on the polkajammernetwork.org.
Jayne says: “Without a doubt, it is the Leader In Entertainment.”
Jersey Polka Richie
The Polka Jammer Network is proud to welcome "American's Concertina King" JERSEY POLKA RICHIE to their airways. Celebrating 43 years in the Polka Field, Richie is no stranger to the microphone. Residing in beautiful Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Richie makes the perfect co-host for veteran Polka Show host: Jayne Debevec-Vadnal.
Richie will share his love for concertina music with their audience through "RICHIE'S CONCERTINA CORNER" which will spotlight bands featuring the concertina. Any bands in this category can send CDs to Richie at P.O. Box 590211, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33359.
Richie has been traveling through Polkaland since the ripe age of only ten years and released his first album at the age of 12. He continues to make guest appearances up north in the warmer months. Richie's dad tinkled with accordion and at age 3 his parents already bought him a toy accordion.
At 10, Richie performed with Lil’ Wally and switched to the concertina. A year later he met Concertina Master: Casey "Fingers" Siewierski who became his idol and mentor.
All in all, if you enjoy concertina & Slovenian polka music, you'll love SUNSHINE & POLKAS with Jayne and Richie!!
